Switzerland May Soon Welcome Vaccinated Visitors This Month

Switzerland may be the next country that will open its borders to visitors as long as they are vaccinated.

Switzerland

According to reports, the country’s government has expressed its desire to prepare for the upcoming vacation season by welcoming tourists once more, thanks to the ongoing vaccinations and the falling number of COVID-19 infections.

Switzerland will be joining the list of European countries if ever to ease travel restrictions after the EU governments agreed last month to allow quarantine-free travel for vaccinated tourists and visitors from “safe” countries. Though Switzerland isn’t part of the European Union, it still falls under the Schengen Area, which allows free travel for citizens of other countries that are also included in the area. Italy, Greece, and Spain have been among those who have already opened their borders for tourists.

This decision has yet to be finalized though. The Swiss government said that it will announce its final plan on this on June 23, so people who have been waiting to fly there may have to wait ’til then.
