Solista Per Una Notte: A Solo Classical Recital
In the year 1987, the De La Salle University Chorale was established as the official chorale group of De La Salle University-Manila. Composing of young and musically talented students, the group was made to perform in various events, gatherings,and concerts for the school. Through the years, the group grew into new heights as they began to embark on international competitions under the tutelage of Prof. Rodolfo Delarmente. In 1995, the group won several choral competitions in their European Tour, giving them prestige in the countries Italy, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria and Spain. This winning streak continued in the years 1999, 2002, 2004, 2010, and most recently in 2013 where the group garnered top accolades from 4 prestigious competitions. In Greece, they were awarded the Gold Medal and First Prize in the Chamber Choir Category at the 19th International Choral Competition of Sacred Music in Preveza and another Gold Medal and First Prize in the same category at the 11th International Choir Competition “Antonio Vivaldi” in Karpenissi. The group received the highest award as the Grand Prix winner at the 3rd Kaunas Cantat International Choir Competition where they also received 3 Gold Medals for the Adult Chamber Choir Category, Folkloric Category and Polyphonic Category, as well as the Audience Award. The DLSU Chorale was also hailed as the Absolute Festival Winner in the 41st Festival of Songs: International Choir Festival in Olomouc, Czech Republic. They swept the competition winning 3 Gold Medals in the Chamber Choir Category, Spiritual, Gospel & Pop Category and the Folkloric Category.
Once again, the DLSU Chorale will captivate their audience as they sing in their much awaited solo classical recital entitled “Solista Per Una Notte” with a repertoire showcasing the colors of music over the centuries. Featuring some members of the group and some special guests including renowned classical singer Mr. Ronan Ferrer, DLSU Chorale Alumni Ms. Reynabel Baquero, and member of St. Mary’s Glee Club Ms. Cristal Culaba, the concert highlights the splendor of classical music as their voices give color to its wide spectrum.
