Mr. Scheile teaching the guests and German VIPs the steps to the Fliegerleid, a famous Oktoberfest song and dance number
To make Sofitel’s Oktoberfest even more authentic, they will fly in the world famous original Hofbräuhaus band and show from the legendary Hofbräuhaus in Munich, founded by the Duke of Bavaria in 1589. They have also invited Lissie, internationally acclaimed female yodeller, as well as musicians playing on cow-bells, the traditional folk dance of Bavarian Schuhplattler, the unique sounds of the gigantic Alps Horn and Goaßlschnalzer – men cracking their whips in tune to Bavarian music.
We got a preview of the feast to come. Our favorites were: (clockwise from top left) parsley filled roasted chicken and grilled pork knuckles, crispy roast pork with beer gravy, Emperor’s pancake with apple compote, and assorted breads
Of course, no Oktoberfest celebration will be complete without food. This year, Sofitel’s master chefs will prepare a Bavarian feast with assorted German cold cuts, assorted cheeses, fresh farm salads, soup, three kinds of German sausages, fresh roasted pork knuckles, laugen rolls, and mouth-watering pastries. Let’s not forget the star of the show: free-flowing ice cold San Miguel beer!
And the best part of the Oktoberfest, apart from the beer, is that parts of the proceeds will go to charity projects.
“Ever since it’s founding in 1906, the German Club Manila has helped the poor and underprivileged, supported victims of natural calamities and stood by the Filipinos in times of persecution and war. This strong commitment towards the Philippines and its people is being upheld and further intensified to this date by the Club’s over five hundred members. As in all our events, a considerable part of the proceeds of the Oktoberfest will go to our charity projects,” said Per-Andre Hoffmann, German Club Manila President.
There will also be a raffle draw with over a million pesos worth of prizes. Proceeds go to the German Club’s welfare projects. You may purchase your tickets from the German Club Manila.
If you feel drunk or danced out, Sofitel has a special Oktoberfest room package, so there’s no need to worry about finding your car keys.
Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila’s Oktoberfest celebration is one of the most authentic in the Philippines. So if you want to truly feel the German spirit and shout “Ein Prosit Ein Prosit!” (the song usually sung during Oktoberfest), you know where to go!
