Severe Tropical Storm Opong to Make Landfall in Bicol Region

Severe Tropical Storm Opong is expected to make its landfall over the Bicol Region on Friday morning or early afternoon, September 26, 2025, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 8 AM advisory, PAGASA reported that Opong is packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kph, with gusts of up to 135 kph, and is currently moving west-northwestward at 20 kph.

With Opong expected to make landfall in the Bicol Region, the Philippine News Agency reported that all police units in the area have been placed on heightened alert, while search, rescue, and retrieval teams have been mobilized to assist communities that may be impacted by the storm.
