On a scale of 1-10, how praning are you? I don’t know if it’s just me, but the pandemic has really taken a toll on my mental health and how I perceive things in what I now call “the outside world”. Maybe it’s because I live in the biggest barangay in the Metro, where the cases have been rising like never before, or maybe it’s just because I worry about my family to no end; but there was a time when I went out to buy necessities (one of the very rare moments I actually went out since the COVID-19 pandemic hit); and when I got home, kulang na lang talaga maghubad ako sa garahe before entering the house.
To reduce the fear a little bit and also to ensure that I don’t bring any contaminated clothing into our home, I’ve been looking into protective clothing. Most of the stores that I found were a bit over-the-top (kind of like my mind :p) or simply weren’t convenient and practical enough for my needs. That’s when I came across RoyAnne Camillia Couture’s latest collection.
RoyAnne Camillia Couture isn’t a new name on our website. (Read our previous article about them here.) In case you haven’t heard about them, RoyAnne Camillia Couture has been offering made-to-order and rental gown services for weddings, debuts, and other formal events since 2013. Like most businesses in the events industry, though, they were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic with events cancelled and postponed left and right.
They share that they have always entertained the idea of venturing towards a ready-to-wear line; they just never planned for their initial release to be protective clothing. I am very thankful that they decided to go this route, though. “We turned things around,” they share, “packing the gowns we were working on and producing protective clothing instead. It’s a mix of both necessity and opportunity that gravitated us towards this decision.”
If you’re looking for high quality protective wear that is different and looks reeeeeally good, these pieces would be a great addition to your closet even after the pandemic has passed. The Armaria Project offers the perfect balance of style and function; and since the pieces are made with microfiber (very lightweight and water repellent), it’s also perfect for the rainy season.
This collection is for people who want to express themselves through clothing, to go out to this new world, to say to this pandemic that “I will rise up”, and to do it with style. RoyAnne Camillia sees this project as a spirited defiance from this depressive state. I, for one, find their items to be very uplifting and very encouraging. I love how fashionable and comfortable they are, and how easy they have made it for me to wear the clothing, go out, come back, and take it off again.
For these RTW products, RoyAnne Camillia Couture delivers nationwide. They also accept orders from overseas. Most of their new products are also available in different colors. Just check out their online store to see the variations. The good news is that they plan to launch other collections soon, too. The Armaria Project is just the first of many. Even better news: you can get 10% off for minimum order of Php1000 with the code “armaria10off”. Make sure to shop soon, though, because the code is only valid until July 31, 2020!
