Rizal Governor Rebecca “Nini” Ynares has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Her son, former Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III, confirmed the news.

“Tulad ng aming sinumpaang tungkulin na maging tapat sa lahat ng oras at panahon, at para ma abisuhan na din ang lahat ng naka salamuha ng aking mga magulang, nais po naming ipabatid sa lahat, na nakumpirma po na ang ating Governor Nini Ynares ay dinapuan ng COVID 19 virus,” Jun Ynares said.
[As it is our sworn duty to be truthful at all times and circumstances, and also to advise everyone who had been in contact with my parents, I want everyone to know that it has been confirmed that our Governor Nini Ynares has been infected with the COVID-19 virus.]
They announced the news late Wednesday night so that those who have come into contact with the governor may self-isolate.
“Sa amin pong palagay, nakuha ni Governor Nini ang virus dahil sa patuloy niyang pag-ikot at araw-araw na pagharap sa madaming mga kababayan natin. Hindi po siya tumigil sa pagdalaw sa kanyang mga kalalawigan dahil bahagi ito ng kanyang tungkulin,” her son explained.
[We think that Governor Nini got the virus because she continued to go around the province and face our residents. She didn’t stop seeing other residents of the province because this is part of her job.]
Jun also stated that his mother is currently under quarantine and in stable condition. His father, former Rizal Governor Casimiro “Ito” Ynares, is also under quarantine. However, his COVID-19 test results have not yet been released.
