Red Garlic in Bonifacio High Street: Read, Eat and Drink to Your Heart’s Content!
When in Manila, many were distraught when the first branch of Red Garlic along Katipunan Extension—which catered mostly to students and nearby residents, closed down a few months ago. The good news, however, is that this paved way for a bigger and better branch, now located in Two Parkade, 7th Avenue, 30th Street, Bonifacio Global City—with an even longer and more diverse list of food items.
The concept of Red Garlic was born when seven good friends decided to build a haven where they could have coffee, beer, and eat to their heart’s content. Thus the idea of, “Read, Eat and Drink,” which also explains why its interior and decorations subtly remind you of a library.
Red Garlic’s executive chef, Vince Rodriguez—also owner of Peppermill Caterers, adds his unique concoctions to every dish—transforming it into a recipe that makes you feel like you had just toured the world.
It’s easy to guess why people keep coming back for more—and that students and residents from the Quezon City area still flock all the way to Bonifacio Global City to have a taste of yummy Red Garlic goodness. When I was a student in Ateneo, I ate a couple of times in the Katipunan Branch. Now that I’m working in the Makati area, I recently had the privilege of eating in their new branch in High Street.
Some of my favorite dishes included the Louisiana Pasta (my skinny friend, Yelle, can finish an entire order to herself!), and the Cajun Style Baby Back Ribs, which was so overwhelmingly huge and delicious that not even six of us could finish it. Good thing it comes in full slab, and half slab! Again, a fan of desserts—I really enjoyed their Pana Cotta with Fresh Fruits.
