PSA: Donate Your Online Shopping Bags to These Initiatives Against Plastic Pollution

Did anyone tell you that you shop online too much? Well, let me be the one to tell you that it’s perfectly fine to shop as long as it’s within your budget and don’t sacrifice any of your basic needs. There’s no problem if online shopping is therapeutic to you since we all have our own ways to cope with everything that 2020 has brought us, as long as your bank account agrees. The only problem with that is where to store your online shopping bags so nobody sees it and says “Wow! Ang daming pang-shopping, palibre naman!” or worse… harming the environment with the amount of plastic waste.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. That’s why we are giving you a list where you can donate your online shopping bags because let’s be honest, you only “need” what’s inside anyway. Before throwing them away, think of how you can help save the environment by sending them to a place where they can be reused, recycled, or upcycled. Without further ado, here are some initiatives against plastic pollution in the Philippines that you should check out now!

The Plastic Solution is a movement of repurposing plastic bottles by stuffing them with non-biodegradable waste which will be used as alternative fillers in constructing walls and fences for classrooms, houses, convention centers, garden pots, benches, and many more. Examples are used plastic bags and straws, cigarette butts, and empty sachets to name a few. You can also fill them with hard plastics like egg containers and disposable utensils by cutting them down into smaller pieces.
