Project Philippines: A 3-Day Intensive Dance Workshop

Project Philippines is a 3-day intensive dance workshop to be facilitated by Vangelis Legakis. Everyone is invited, movers and non-movers

Vangelis will be teaching an intensive Contact Improvisation and Flying Low fusing it with energy work from Chi Gong. Flying Low is a physical and technical dance style that uses the body weight and momentum to have a better connection with the floor. Through expansion and contraction we create a smooth and effortless connection with the floor and the group. He will teach exercises of lifting, weight distribution, free falling, balancing and counter-balancing, matching forces, sensing and feeling each other so as to find a unique communication within the self and the group.

Vangelis has been exploring for many years body-mind-spirit connection through improvisation, diverse dance styles and experiential anatomy and also through martial arts and Kundalini Yoga. He will introduce coordination and contact improvisation methodologies to facilitate body awareness and articulation. Martial Arts principles and also breathing exercises will play a crucial role so as to embody movement, enhance consciousness and broaden perspective and possibilities whilst dancing. The focus and the blending of all this techniques and principles will be for performing and enhancing performance with a partner or as a group.
