Pope Leo XIV made sure to honor the memory of Pope Francis exactly one month after his passing.

On May 21, the American pontiff shared a heartfelt message dedicated to his predecessor on X.
“Today, in a special way, we remember our beloved #PopeFrancis with deep gratitude, who exactly one month ago returned to the Father’s house. He accompanies us and prays for the Church from Heaven,” he wrote.
According to the Vatican News, Pope Leo XIV also honored Pope Francis at the conclusion of his first General Audience in St. Peter’s Square.
“We cannot conclude this encounter without remembering, with deep gratitude, our beloved Pope Francis, who returned to the Father’s house exactly one month ago,” he expressed.
Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 on April 21 due to a stroke and heart failure.
Cardinal Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, succeeded him as the first American pontiff. He was elected on the second day of the conclave, held on May 8.
