Pope Francis sends donations to areas hardest hit by COVID-19 pandemic

Today, Pope Francis has reportedly donated 30 respirators to hospitals in areas hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. As to where exactly they would be sent or if any would go to countries beyond Italy, the statement from the office of the papal Almoner, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, allegedly did not mention any specific details.

As of writing, Italy is the third most affected country by COVID-19 with above 80,000 cases after China (85k +) and the US (81k +). Its death toll is at 8,000+ while the number of recovered patients is at 10,000+.

The head of the Catholic Church takes part in the fight against the pandemic by broadcasting live masses every day from the Vatican.
