Phum Viphurit, Gene Kasidit, Landokmai, and More to Perform at Bangkok World Music Day 2025

The French Embassy in Thailand, in collaboration with One Bangkok and the Alliance Française, is proud to present Bangkok World Music Day 2025 — a major cultural event that will transform downtown Bangkok into a vibrant celebration of sound, creativity, and diversity on Saturday, June 14.

Bangkok World Music Day 2025

For one exceptional afternoon and evening, more than 28 Thai and French artists, alongside 10 hours of international DJ sets, will take over five stages across the iconic venues of One Bangkok and the Alliance Française. The program spans a wide musical spectrum — from Pop to Molam and hip-hop to jazz, and techno — reflecting the dynamic energy and cultural richness of both countries.

This free and open-access festival invites the public to explore an inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere. The event will also feature food markets and interactive activities, including a busking competition, fostering spontaneous creativity and community engagement.

Bangkok World Music Day 2025 not only aims to bring music to the streets, but to build bridges between cultures, generations, and genres. In the spirit of la Fête de la Musique, it is a powerful tribute to artistic freedom, public access to culture, and the shared language of music.

Whether you’re a long-time music lover or simply curious, join us on June 14 to experience the vibrant soundscape of the Big Mango in an atmosphere of openness, joy, and discovery.

A brief history

The idea for such an institution originated from a 1982 survey conducted by the Ministry of Culture on the cultural habits of the French population. The results showed that 5 million people — including one in every two young people — played a musical instrument. Yet at the time, musical events engaged only a small portion of the population.

To close the gap between widespread musical practice and limited public participation, the Ministry envisioned a bold and inclusive event — one that would allow anyone to perform and connect with an audience during a long summer evening.

Since its first edition in 1982, this unique musical event has taken place every year, bringing people together in the streets of France for free concerts, regardless of genre or musical practice. The Fête de la Musique has quickly become the popular event par excellence: emblematic of a culture accessible to the greatest number, as advocated by the French Ministry of Culture, and embodying the egalitarian and fraternal values of our republican motto.

Since 1985, the event has gone beyond France’s borders, now taking place in over 120 countries across 5 continents, with the simple unifying element that it is first and foremost an open-air musical event, with the public and for the public.

Our goals to make this year so special

For several years, the French Embassy in Thailand has celebrated World Music Day as a highlight of its cultural programme, previously known as La Fête. For the 2025 edition, we aim to make it more festive and inclusive than ever — a joyful, family-friendly event open to all, with food stalls, live music, and a busking competition.

This year, we’re reconnecting with the original spirit of La Fête de la musique by partnering with One Bangkok, a key player in Thailand’s cultural scene. This collaboration gives us the opportunity to scale up the event with multiple stages and performance spaces — right next to the Alliance Française — offering a seamless, vibrant experience for the public.

We’re also teaming up with Polo Ruesz, founder of Live Promotions and a long-time promoter of French talent in Southeast Asia. Together, the Embassy, Alliance Française, One Bangkok, and Live Promotions are curating a line-up that brings together French and Thai artists, fostering cross-cultural discovery and future collaborations.

More than just a concert, Bangkok World Music Day 2025 will celebrate open access to culture, artistic diversity, and shared experiences — echoing the rhythm and spirit of Bangkok itself.
