Trigger warning: Graphic content
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is calling on the owner of a cat shot with an arrow to file a case against the perpetrator.
The animal welfare organization reported another heartbreaking incident of animal cruelty, in which a male cat was found with an arrow lodged in his back in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.

According to PAWS, they received a report on February 27 that a woman brought her injured cat for urgent medical care.
“On February 27, Thursday, Dr. Louie, Mandaluyong City vet and long-time ally of PAWS in the cityโs animal welfare efforts, contacted PAWS after a woman from Brgy. Addition Hills brought her male cat in for emergency treatment. The poor cat was mercilessly shot with an arrow, and Dr. Louie provided medical attention as part of the cityโs public service,” PAWS said in a statement posted on social media.
Despite the immediate treatment, PAWS emphasized that providing medical care alone is not enough, as acts of cruelty will continue unless the perpetrators are held accountable.
“While it is good that the animal was treated immediately, the recent cases of cruelty involving the same modus operandi highlight an urgent need for legal action to be undertaken,” the organization continued.
“Simply providing medical care isnโt enough; without seeking justice and holding perpetrators accountable, acts of cruelty like this will continue, and more animals will continue to suffer and even end up dying slow, painful, and horrible deaths.”
PAWS urged the owner of the injured cat to come forward and press charges. The organization also called on the public to report any information about individuals targeting animals with weapons in the area.
“If you are the pet owner of this cat or have any information about the individual responsible for targeting and shooting arrows at animals in the area, we urge you to come forward so we can work together to seek justice,” the statement concluded.
