Pantone has announced the Color of the Year 2025, which embodies warmth, comfort, and contentment.
PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse has been unveiled as the Color of the Year 2025, describing it as a “brown hue imbued with richness.” Inspired by the rich and soothing qualities of chocolate and coffee, it evokes comfort and indulgence.
“With its sophisticated, earthy elegance, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse can stand alone or serve as a versatile foundation, enhancing a wide range of palettes and applications—from minimalist to richly detailed designs—across all color-focused industries,” Pantone noted on its official website.
The institute emphasized that Mocha Mousse boasts a strong chromatic foundation, allowing it to seamlessly complement minimalist aesthetics and richly decorated settings. With five distinct color palettes, each reflecting its own mood and tone. It also offers a sophisticated and earthy feel, making it ideal for creating calming and inviting spaces.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe,” Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman noted.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, Laurie Pressman said, “For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”
Every December, Pantone names its Color of the Year for the coming year. For 2024, the chosen shade was Peach Fuzz.
