FYI, commuters! The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved a ₱1 provisional fare hike for jeepneys nationwide on Tuesday, October 3.
The fare hike will take effect on Sunday, October 8, at 12:01 a.m. for both modern and traditional jeepneys. The minimum fare for traditional jeepneys will increase from ₱12 to ₱13, then modern jeepneys from ₱14 to ₱15.
LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz emphasized that this is temporary as the board continues to discuss the permanent ₱5 fare hike petition of transport groups due to fluctuating fuel prices. With that, a new fare matrix will not be issued.
In a Facebook post, the LTFRB wrote, “Nakasalalay sa naturang pagdinig ang desisyon kung magkano ang itataas ng pamasahe sa mga pampublikong sasakyan at kung maipatutupad ba ito sa buong bansa o mga partikular na rehiyon lamang.”

The temporary increase is expected to help reduce the effects of the rising fuel prices.
