Online fundraising campaign raises over P1.1 million for tamaraw conservation

An online fundraising campaign has raised over PHP 1.1 million for Mindoro’s tamaraw rangers and forest wardens. This is to help the rangers and wardens as most of them lost their jobs because of the pandemic.

The campaign, which is called #TogetherforTamaraws, was launched back in July. The campaign also aims to provide wages and supplies so that conservation frontliners can continue protecting the tamaraws.

Around 150 individuals and institutions came together and helped raise money for this campaign. The funds will be turned over on October 29, in celebration of Tamaraw Month, which is celebrated every October.

This campaign was led by the Biodiversity Finance Initiative project under the United Nations Development Programme and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau and DENR-MIMAROPA.
