‘One Piece’ Trends Online as Creator Publishes 1,000th Manga Chapter

The longest-running anime series One Piece started trending globally online after it reached a huge milestone in 23 years.

10 anime to watch one piece

Series creator Eiichiro Oda previously released a public statement in the last weeks of December 2020 thanked all his fans and readers who have supported One Piece throughout the years. He even posted a handwritten letter containing 1,000 words to commemorate the achievement.

The chapter was then published on January 4, delighting millions of fans worldwide who have been waiting for this epic moment. Fans have taken to Twitter to gush over the events of the chapter, as well as to reminisce on the early parts of the manga just to show how far protagonist Luffy and his Straw Hat crew have come. Others also shared the impact of the story on their lives and expressed their gratitude for being able to experience the journey to the manga’s end.

Oda has also launched a separate project as part of the 1,000th chapter celebration called the “One Piece 1000 LOGS” which is a global popularity poll where fans can vote on who is the most popular character of One Piece among the 1,000 they handpicked.

The poll can be viewed here and will be up until February 28.

One Piece is predicted to end around 2025 to 2026. If you want to catch up to the manga, you may do so through VIZ.com.
