Puerto Princesa, and Palawan in general, is a destination that must be visited at least once in your life. Although, of course, once you have been to the place, it is quite hard to imagine anyone not wanting to go back. Puerto Princesa alone has this quiet charm that’s undeniable. The people are nice, the streets are relatively safe, there’s a chill, laid-back vibe you won’t find in the city, and the display of nature really is quite remarkable. Only about 2 minutes from the Puerto Princesa airport, my colleagues and I reached the hotel in such a cinch that we were already parking after I had just remembered to buckle myself on to my seat. Upon entering the lobby, what we saw instantly impressed us. Inspired by traditional yet classy Filipino design, One Manalo’s interiors gives off the vibe of an upscale hotel experience, however not transporting you away from the charming island, Palawan vibe. It’s a perfect balance of the two.

The Rooms

There are four types of rooms in One Manalo Place: Standard Room, Deluxe Room, Suite Room, and the Presidential Suite, all designed to cater to different kinds of travelers. The Standard and Deluxe rooms can accommodate up to 2-3 people (additional person rate applies), perfect for travel buddies, small families (2 adults, 2 kids), and couples. The Suite Room and Presidential Suite, on the other hand, are large, spacious rooms that even have their own receiving areas—a private place for you to lounge on while perhaps having a drink or two.

But whichever you choose, a comfortable stay surely is assured. All rooms come with a veranda, a private bathroom with complete toiletries, a cable flat-screen TV, complimentary water bottles and coffee, towels and slippers, a safety deposit box, free wifi access, and roundtrip airport transfers. The only problem you’ll have in staying in One Manalo is that bittersweet dillema every morning—to leave the bed or not? The soft light of mornings peeking through the drapes covering the glass doors towards the veranda beckons, but One Manalo Place’s beds, covered in white linen and fluffy comforters, are just too difficult to part with.

 

The Dining Experience

All rooms come with free breakfast, and serving you that is Aplaya Seafood Restaurant, which boasts of fresh local seafood. Situated right between One Manalo Place’s lobby and pool area, dining at Aplaya Seafood Restaurant is always a treat for the senses. The food, of course, is nothing short of delicious, and that, coupled with a refreshing view of the luxurious pool, whether in the morning or in the night when it is beautifully lit, just adds to the whole remarkable One Manalo Place experience.

 

The Amenities

Here, you can start your day with a quick workout. One Manalo Place has a fitness center for gym enthusiasts and runners alike. And for those who prefer going on hassle-free tours, One Manalo Place can arrange that for you, too. Underground River Tour, City Tour, Honda Bay Tour, Firefly Watching Tour, even El Nido Tours, and more, seeing Palawan has just become a whole lot easier.

And for those who want to have their own private party, karaoke place Jukebox Family KTV is right next door. They serve meals, too. Not just for pulutan, but also good for dinner. And take note, they are absolutely delicious. Try out their Special Fried Rice (delightfully plated on a pineapple), Seafood Kare-Kare with Lobster, Salt and Pepper Squid, Seafood Pasta, and the Spareribs which was the cherry on top of everything that was already so good. Their unique chocolate drizzled Brazo de Mercedes is quite unforgettable, too.

 

One Manalo Villas

For travelers and families who prefer more peace and quiet, One Manalo Place recently opened One Manalo Villas, a compound of less than 10 rooms aka villas. Privacy and exclusivity is the selling point here. There are gazebos where guests can simply sit and relax, and a lovely poolside, too. For colder nights, or perhaps just to relax from a stressful day of traveling, there’s a heated jacuzzi right beside the pool.
