If there’s anything to know about Oliver Moeller, it’s that the discipline required for him to pursue an exemplary career as a lawyer is the same force that drove him to step into the tough world of competitive bodybuilding.
This fitness journey of his didn’t just begin on a whim; at 32 years old and pushing through the final months of 2024, Oliver was experiencing professional burnout that affected him mentally and physically.
“I noticed I’d fallen out of rhythm. The pace of my work as a lawyer and entrepreneur had blurred the lines between productivity and burnout. Sleep was a luxury, training was sporadic, and nutrition had become an afterthought,” Oliver shared with WhenInManila.com. “I’ve always been a creature of structure—a believer that both success and peace of mind thrive in routine. So when I felt that sense of order slipping away, I knew I had to fight for it back.”
And Oliver instantly knew how to achieve a semblance of routine that would get him out of his slump. In October 2024, he decided to reach out to his friend and former coach, Jack Radford-Smith, of The Bodybuilding Dietitians in Australia, to train him for a bodybuilding program with the goal of competing.

“We mapped out a plan: twelve months of preparation leading to three natural bodybuilding competitions across Australia in late 2025,” Oliver said. “That year became a masterclass in discipline. Every gram of food is weighed. Every kilogram lifted is recorded. Every step counted. And all of it while juggling client meetings, court appearances, business calls, content creation, and relationships that deserved my time and presence.”
“I started waking up at 4:00 a.m. to train before the world could ask anything of me—and I tried (emphasis on tried) to be in bed by 8:00 p.m. to do it all again the next day,” he added.
It was a challenging time, more than he ever experienced in his profession, but Oliver endured, remembering what all this was for and knowing that fulfillment was within his grasp.
“The process tested me in ways no courtroom or boardroom ever had. But slowly, I changed. I lost over sixteen kilograms, reached single-digit body fat, and gained not just muscle but momentum—in my career, my confidence, and even brand partnerships that came naturally from authenticity, not pursuit.”
It had been twelve months of intense grind and preparation, culminating in the Natural Bodybuilding Australia in October 2025. Stepping off that stage in Sydney, Oliver could finally say that all the sweat and tears he had shed had been worth it, because he was going home with two silver medals—one from the Men’s Physique Open and another from the 30+ divisions.

It was a proud moment for him and one he’ll never forget. But as he reflected on the entire journey, he couldn’t shake off the fear of not knowing what comes after.
“There’s a strange silence that comes after finally getting what you’ve been chasing. The noise of the grind quiets, the adrenaline dips, and you’re left with a single question: now what?” he admitted. “Twelve months of sacrifice condensed into a few fleeting moments under bright lights. And when it was over, I felt both accomplished and… uncertain.”
It didn’t take him much time to find the answer he was looking for, however. That successes are never dead-ends; they’re pathways to more possibilities.

“It took a few good flat whites and quiet mornings in Sydney to realize that the person who showed up every day during prep—the one who didn’t skip, didn’t quit, didn’t make excuses—wasn’t built for bodybuilding alone. That version of me has always been there, waiting to be redirected. The discipline that forged my stage physique could just as easily shape my career, strengthen my relationships, and refine my sense of purpose,” Oliver told us.
“So maybe the real finish line isn’t a stage or a medal. Maybe it’s learning that the pursuit itself—showing up, struggling, staying the course—is the point. Because at every crossroads of accomplishment, the answer to “now what?” will always be the same: keep becoming.”
Oliver is now chasing other fitness goals, such as running his first marathon and competing in the IRONMAN Triathlon and HYROX again in 2026. He plans to join his next bodybuilding show towards the end of 2027 or early 2028.
