OH MY GAWD: The Friends Reunion is Happening This Year

Friends Show

Friends fans, we have great news for you: the reunion is definitely happening and it’s going to air this year, the show’s 25th anniversary.

The news was announced by HBO, which will be producing the exclusive untitled unscripted special on HBO Max, the network’s streaming platform.

According to Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT, and truTV,  “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David [Schwimmer], Jennifer [Aniston], Courteney [Cox], Matt [Leblanc], Lisa [Kudrow], and Matthew [Perry] for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire ‘Friends’ library.”

He added, “I became aware of ‘Friends’ when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real-time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”

The cast also announced the news, posting about it on their respective Instagram pages.

According to reports, each member will receive at least $2.5 million (roughly P127 million) for the reunion.

The reunion will be available for streaming, along with the show’s 236 episodes, when HBO Max launches in May.
