Changing your hair color often comes with a trade-off: you get the shade you want, but usually at the cost of bleaching. As someone who wanted a fresh look for the new year without putting my hair through bleach again, I was curious to see if non-bleach coloring could really deliver.

That curiosity led me to A.G. Salon along Mercedes Avenue in Pasig City, a salon that advertises hair coloring services without bleach. It was my first time visiting, and I was coming in with hair that had clearly grown out—mostly black, with orange-ish ends from a previous dye. I already had a regular salon I trusted, but since they didn’t offer non-bleach coloring, trying a new place felt like a bit of a risk.
I came in asking for a red shade, and during the consultation, the stylist suggested going for a darker red instead of something brighter, taking into account my current hair color and condition. One detail that stood out right away was their scalp analysis—they used a screen that zoomed in on my scalp, showing its condition in close detail. It was both fascinating and slightly confronting to see everything up close, but it made the consultation feel more thoughtful and informed.
The entire coloring process took about three hours, and throughout the session, the staff were accommodating and attentive. Despite my initial nerves—new salon, new technique, no bleach—I didn’t feel any discomfort during the process.
When it was finally done, the result was a dark red shade that felt polished and cohesive with my natural hair. The stylists also took time to explain how to maintain the color and manage it in the weeks after. Seeing the finished look, it actually exceeded my expectations, and I ended up liking it even more than the original peg I had in mind.

Overall, it was a reassuring experience, especially for someone hesitant about changing salons and skipping bleach altogether. I’d definitely consider going back.
In January, A.G. Salon is also set to launch a mobile salon service, where their team will go directly to clients’ homes to provide services. It’s an interesting option, particularly for those who prefer getting their hair done without stepping out.
If you’re looking to change your hair color without bleaching—and want to try something new for the year ahead—this Pasig salon might be worth checking out.
