A Nintendo Museum Is Opening This October in Kyoto—Here’s What It Looks Like!

Nintendo fans, mark your calendars: the renovated Nintendo factory is opening this fall as a museum!

The Nintendo Museum will open its doors to the public on October 2 in Uji, Kyoto and take guests on an interactive journey to witness Nintendo’s legacy that spans decades. The museum is built on the original factory that was put up in 1969, where Nintendo first created hanafuda, karuta, and other Japanese playing cards.

The company released a video of Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of “Super Mario Bros,” on Tuesday, August 20, showing a sneak preview of the museum. It features an entire floor displaying games and technology created since the founding of the gaming company, a spot to play the Japanese traditional card game called Hyakunin Isshu on your smartphone, rooms to play the indoor pitching game Ultra Machine, a shooting gallery, and an area where you and a friend can play classic Nintendo video games using larger-than-life controllers.

It will also have a cafe and a gift shop.
