When in Manila and itching for some basketball action, NBA and SM Prime Holdings can help you scratch that itch. Two of the most recognized brands in the Philippines have teamed up to create one of the biggest events in Philippine sports history.
I got too excited when I got the invite for a “secret” NBA event last week. Being surrounded with men that are crazy about basketball, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to attend the press conference.
A buffet spread was served as lunch for the media and the guests. I’ve overheard a bunch of excited people from the other table, all of them speculating about what NBA and SM were going to announce during the event. I was getting a bit too anxious since I was alone during the event, and I might end up not handling the exciting news too well!
We were then asked to relocate to the front of the arena and watch the National University Pep Squad perform their routine in order to pump up everyone’s excitement.

The President of SM Prime Holdings, Mr. Hans Sy, made opening remarks regarding the history of basketball here in the Philippines. He has said that “The Filipinos’ love for basketball is undeniable.” and it is one of the main factors why they have chosen to partner up with NBA Asia.
