Nadine Lustre took to social media to share her encounter with five puppies she saved from getting thrown away in the river. On Instagram Stories, she posted a photo of the three puppies.
“Came across 5 puppies at our location yesterday. (We couldn’t find the other 2 last night so they’re not in the picture),” she captioned.
As per Lustre, the crew told them that the owner is planning to “toss them in the river” if no one would take them because there are “too many dogs” in the area.

She added, “At first, I thought it was a sick joke, but the crew said the owner was actually serious.”
The actress also said the barangay tanod offered to help her gather the puppies. As a pet owner herself, she decided to take in the abandoned puppies in the meantime while looking for their new homes.
“I just couldn’t stand thinking they might die when I could’ve done something to help. We don’t know how old they are, but it seems like they’re able to eat food already,” she continued.
She emphasized that the two puppies were already accounted for and asked her followers to inform her if anyone wanted to adopt the other puppies.

Lustre has been vocal about raising awareness of animal cruelty. In an interview with Metro Magazine in June, the actress revealed that she switched to a vegan lifestyle because of her soft spot for animals. She also has a pet dog, Cal.
