LIST: Most Searched Shows and Movies by Filipinos on Google in 2024

The K-wave is unstoppable! Well-loved 2024 Korean shows dominated the top Google searches in the Philippines this year.

Google has finally released its annual list of the most-searched topics by Filipinos this year, including television shows, Korean series, and movies.

The hit Korean drama Queen of Tears, starring Kim So-hyun and Kim Ji-won, topped the list in both the “Shows or Series” and “Korean Series” categories. The weekend drama, which revolved around a rich, married couple, became one of the highest-rated series in South Korea and the most-watched Korean drama of all time on Netflix.

In the “Shows or Series” category, eight Korean dramas made it to the list, including Marry My Husband, Lovely Runner, Hierarchy, Love Next Door, Gyeongseong Creature, My Demon, and A Shop for Killers. This reflects Filipino viewers’ continued support and growing interest in Korean series.

Meanwhile, the animated coming-of-age film Inside Out 2 is the most-searched movie in the Philippines this year. The multi-award-winning film grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide and broke multiple box-office records both domestically and internationally.

Finally, in the film category, five Filipino films made it to the top ten most-searched movies on Google. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s romance-drama film Rewind, one of the ten official entries to the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and one of the highest-grossing Filipino films of all time, ranked third on the list.

Another 2023 MMFF entry that clinched a spot in the top ten was Pepe Diokno’s GomBurZa. The historical biographical film stars Dante Rivero, Cedrick Juan, and Enchong Dee.

Three other Filipino films released this year also made it to the top ten: Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia’s comeback movie project Un/Happy for You, ranked seventh; Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards’ Hello, Love, Again, now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time secured the ninth spot; and Joel Torre and Euwenn Mikaell’s Lolo and the Kid made it to the tenth spot.
