I was blessed to witness how the Asia’s Phoenix “soared” and achieved huge success. I finally checked off an item in my bucket list! Being one of the audiences of the magnificent concert was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will treasure for the rest of my life! The experience was truly incredible.
How did the concert start? It began with a superb performance from Asia’s Phoenix. The guests who intensified the event were Mela, God of the Dance Floor Zeus Collins, Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, and the one and only Asia’s Songbird, Ms. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

Some of the songs performed by Morissette were rock, which was unusual for her to do. She nailed her performances. She belted out OPM songs, theme songs she sang for ABS-CBN’s dramas, songs from her album, and songs she covered in radio station Wish 107.5’s bus. The stage was perfectly done for her. It had a huge letter “M,” the initial of her name, which caught the audience’s attention as it changed its lighting colors and shined for her.
Christian Bautista and Morissette made us fall in love with their duet of Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
Morissette changed her outfits and looks many times during the concert. It was during these times when videos of a day in her life, her preparations for the concert, and her journey to stardom were shown and played for the audience. We learned that she spends her free time by being with her family, going to the gym, and playing Rubik’s Cube.
Morissette played a bit of piano for her rendition of the song “This is Me” from the movie musical The Greatest Showman and was accompanied by the Wish 107.5 Chorale for the breathtaking production number. She ended the night with her flawless rendition of “Secret Love Song” by Little Mix.

Morissette, a native from Cebu City, came from a family of musicians. She revealed that her father, whose genre is rock, influenced and taught her how to sing. Her genre, on the other hand, is usually POP, OPM, ballad, and R&B. Did you know that her family discovered she can sing when they heard her sing Regine Velasquez-Alcasid’s “You are My Song”?
The Asia’s Phoenix is a product of different talent searches in the country. She started joining singing competitions when she was only a kid. When she became a teenager, she did her best to be a part of TV 5’s Talentadong Pinoy. Her journey did not stop there. When she was asked to audition for the Artista Search of TV 5, the Star Factor, she actively participated and was chosen by the judges as a finalist. She traveled to Manila, competed with other hopefuls, and eventually landed as runner-up. She also auditioned for Repertory Philippines’ Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical and notched the lead role of Mitchie Torres. She again tried her luck when her burning passion for singing motivated her to audition for The Voice of the Philippines. She belted out Beyonce’s Love on Top that wowed Sarah Geronimo, who became her vocal coach. She was a competitive contestant in the competition which led her to be part of ASAP, ABS-CBN’s Sunday noontime entertainment show.

In 2014, she held her very first solo concert entitled “This is Me” and celebrated her 18th birthday celebration at the same time. It was during this event when she informed her audience that she became an official artist of Star Records. It was also this year when she interpreted “Akin Ka Na Lang,” an original song composition of Kiko Salazar in the finals of Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs.
She did not only impress Filipino audience, she had also created a lasting impact to Jessie J, an internationally-known singer. When Morissette had this rare chance to interview Jessie J for MYX, a prominent music channel, she revealed that she performed one of the pop star’s songs when she competed in The Voice of the Philippines. Jessie J then asked Morissette to sing in front of her. Morissette sang a portion of the international singer’s hit song “Who You Are.” This prompted Jessie J to invite Morissette to perform with her during her concert later in the evening.

In 2015, Star Records launched Morissette, the first self-titled studio album of the extraordinary young diva, which opened more opportunities for her. She recorded theme songs for ABS-CBN’s hit movies, she starred in a musical, she received prestigious awards, she performed for different concerts, Himig Handog’s P-Pop Love Songs competition and Wish 107.5, an all-hits FM radio station in the country. She became a regular artist on ASAP as one of the “Birit Queens.” She is also one of the most sought-after Filipino performers who sing abroad for the OFWs, overseas Filipino workers, through TFC, The Filipino Channel.
In 2017, the exceptional singer was chosen to be part of Bolt of Talent, multiple Grammy winner Michael Bolton’s show. She became a co-host of Michael Bolton and had the chance to sing for him and with him during the Asian Dream Tour of the award-winning singer at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Manila.
This outstanding young Asia’s Phoenix has definitely left a mark in the music industry of the country. She was made to conquer the Big Dome and later on, the world. Her incredible talent, sweet and humble personality and passionate love for music made me love her. Let us keep on supporting her!
