“To be honest, kami ni Catherine, noong nalaman namin na pregnant siya, hindi namin talaga akalain, wala kaming plano. Ang plano namin, baka posibleng mag-prepare muna ng katawan, IVF (in vitro fertilization) pero naturally pa rin, gusto naming subukan [Catherine and I, when we found out she was pregnant, we didn’t really expect it, we didn’t have a plan. Our plan is, maybe it’s possible to prepare the body first for IVF (in vitro fertilization) but we still want to try conceiving naturally],” he shared.
Mikee noted that after experiencing a delay in her menstrual cycle, Alex immediately took a pregnancy test, which confirmed a positive result. They then began regular checkups with an OB-GYN, and everything seemed fine initially.
However, during their third visit, complications in the pregnancy were discovered.
“Doon sa pangatlong linggo, wala na namang laman, blighted ovum ulit [During the third week, we discovered that it was a blighted ovum again],” he said. “Pagdating namin sa ultrasound na yun, may baby sa loob [When we arrived at that ultrasound, there was a baby inside].”
Mikee added that he turned emotional upon hearing the baby’s heartbeat, “Naiyak ako noong narinig ko yung heartbeat. First time kong nakarinig ng heartbeat [I cried when I heard the heartbeat. It was my first time hearing a heartbeat].”

Unfortunately, he revealed that the heartbeat was lower than the average, urging them to opt for a second opinion.
“Nalaman namin na mababa yung heartbeat, 65 lang, so that same day, pumunta kami sa hospital, tinry naming habulin, baka ma-save pa yung baby. Ginawa namin lahat [We found out that the heartbeat was low, only 65, so that same day, we went to the hospital and tried to save the baby. We did everything we could],” he reiterated.
On December 28, 2024, they received the disheartening news.
“Dumating yung December 28, hindi ko makakalimutan yun, magkahawak kami ng kamay, pagpasok na ganun, nakita na namin agad yung embryo pero wala na siyang heartbeat [December 28 arrived, I will never forget that, we held hands, when we entered, we immediately saw the embryo but it no longer had a heartbeat],” he disclosed.
Despite experiencing three miscarriages, Mikee emphasized that these challenges have made them stronger as a couple.
“At the end of the day, kahit anong mangyayari, biyayaan man tayo o hindi, kahit tayong dalawa lang magkasama, okay lang [At the end of the day, whatever happens, whether we’re blessed with a baby or not, even if it’s just the two of us together, it’s okay],” he affirmed
Mikee and Alex tied the knot in November 2020. The actress-vlogger had a miscarriage in 2021 and 2023.
