A young Filipina-Korean actress named Ella Jay Basco will be playing Batgirl for the upcoming Warner Bros’ Harley Quinn spinoff film entitled Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

According to an interview with Abookof.us, Ella has a Korean mother and a Filipino father where she also mentioned that she wants to represent the rest of the Asian community.

“Birds of Prey” will be the eighth American superhero film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) based on the DC Comics.
The film directed by Cathy Yan is anticipated to debut on February 2020.
