Meet Aoui Regala—The Filipina Wedding Dress Designer Featured in British Vogue and Tatler UK

A Filipina wedding dress designer was featured in not just one, but two of the most influential publications in the world when it comes to fashion and lifestyle: Vogue and Tatler. Filipino talent is truly world-class!

Meet Aoui Regala, the talented Filipino designer and founder of Aoui Regala Atelier who made enough waves that her name was heard across continents. Aoui specializes in wedding gowns, and is known in the wedding industry for her beautiful custom-made bridal gowns.

Aoui was first featured in Tatler UK, and has appeared in three of the magazine’s issues this year—May, June, and July. She told us the story of how this happened: “The first one to email me was Tatler,” Aoui shared. “I was invited that’s why I was over the moon when they emailed me to be a part of their prestigious magazine.”

Aoui was featured in Tatler UK’s segment called “A Tatler Wedding” which features luxury lifestyle brands from around the world. This list is hand-picked by Tatler’s editorial team, recommending only the best brands to its affluent readership. In its write-up, Tatler UK called Aoui Regala’s designs “impeccably tailored and timeless.”

But that wasn’t the end of it. Aoui Regala talked about how the number one fashion magazine in the world, Vogue, then reached out to her after its team spotted her on Tatler.

Aoui recalled, “After a few months I went crazy because Vogue [UK] emailed me and said that they saw us at their sister company Tatler UK and said that they feel like we are perfect for their magazine too.”

She appeared in Vogue UK under “Vogue Unveiled,” which also featured a curated selection of luxury wedding suppliers across the globe. Aoui Regala appeared in three Vogue UK 2022 issues as well: June, July, and August.

But here’s what surprised us. Despite this huge achievement, Aoui told us that what she still considers her greatest accomplishment is what she’s built here in the Philippines, most especially her relationship with her clients.

“What I am most proud of is my good track record of not failing my brides,” Aoui proudly wrote to us. She also shared that her brand, Aoui Regala Atelier, is one of the most recommended brands for minimalist design aesthetic in the hugely popular Facebook group for brides—WAWIES.

Aoui Regala is a graduate of Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising from the University of Santo Tomas. After getting her degree, she decided to pursue her passion for designing and entered the SoFa Design Institute while also running her own online ready-to-wear startup. After her time at SoFa, she further pursued education in the field and studied at Slim’s Fashion and Design School. That same year, in 2011, Aoui tied the knot, which led her to focusing her immense passion for fashion design on bridal couture. In 2015, Aoui Regala Atelier was born.

“Fashion-forward but intentional”—this is how Aoui Regala described her design style. She told us that her designs are personal; they tell the story of the bride wearing them.

“No matter how much embellishment I use, I always look at a piece as a whole,” Aoui shared. “It always has to be classy and wearable, without overpowering a woman’s natural beauty.”

Aoui Regala Atelier wedding gowns are purely custom-made. Each one is specialized and exclusive. With all of the atelier’s creations made from scratch, Aoui proudly tells us that no two gowns are the same, especially since each dress is based on the bride’s personality.

Aoui shared, “Brides often say how special they feel when they wear my design.”

In 2021, Aoui Regala Atelier also made it to local stories with Empress Schuck’s wedding news. Aoui designed the Filipino actress’ wedding gown, which was beautifully made with hand-sewn pearls, beads, and Swarovski crystals. Aoui Regala’s design drew raves from top local fashion publications like Preview, Metro Magazine, and Cosmo.
