Are you an aspiring doctor? Confused which medical school you’re going for? No worries, because the UP Biological Sciences Society has something in store for you! The UP Biological Sciences Society is the oldest academic, non-profit, university-wide biology-based organization in the University of the Philippines Manila which prides itself on its vision of supporting students’ welfare in their academic and non-academic pursuits through activities that enlighten and inspire them in their journey towards their future careers.
With their goal to advance the academic welfare of students and encourage those in the biological field to dedicate their efforts for the enhancement of biological studies, the UP Biological Sciences Society holds an annual symposium, MedTalk, with the purpose of guiding pre-medical students in choosing the medical school fit for them, as well as acquainting them with the requirements and admission policies of the school of their choice.
This year, MedTalk: Med to Be will be a two-day webinar for our country’s aspiring doctors that is going to provide primary information regarding available off-campus scholarships from organizations such as the Department of Health, as well as the curriculum, requirements, available financial assistance and admission policies of the participating leading medical schools in the Philippines. They have also invited guest speakers, such as Ms. Michelle Lao, an incoming first-year medical student at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, and Dr. Leonard Javier, a physician at the Philippine General Hospital, who will surely inspire the students on the wonders of being in the healthcare field. In addition, they will be also giving their top secrets and tips on how aspiring doctors could maximize their time in studying to get that 99+ percentile on their NMAT, as well as a little sneak peek on how medical life works.
