Maris Racal is set to star in a new movie, “Sunshine,” directed by Antoinette Jadaone! On Instagram, she posted snaps with the award-winning director as she announced that they had wrapped up filming.
“Celebrating because we finished a film,” she wrote.

Earlier this month, Racal revealed she’s working on a new project and talked about how Jadaone pitched her the story way back in 2020.
“Nung pinitch to saakin ni direk @tonetjadaone last 2020, umoo kaagad ako. Iyak ako nang iyak after ko mabasa ang script (at kahit na ilang ulit ko siyang basahin, iyak pa rin ako haha) [When director Jadaone pitched me this story in 2020, I immediately said yes. I was crying so hard after reading the script (even after I read it multiple times, I still cried)],” she captioned her post.
The actress also shared behind-the-scenes of their shoot, which showed her portraying the role of a gymnast. Then, she thanked the Film Development Council of the Philippines for choosing “Sunshine” among the projects for funding of CreatePHFilms.
“Ito yung project na magiging proud ako na nagawa ko dahil sa sobrang ganda ng mensahe. Thank you direk ako napili mo [This is the project I’ll be proud of because its message is so beautiful. Thank you, direk for choosing me],” she expressed.

“Sa film na to, I’ve grown so much as an actress at forever kong babaunin ang natutunan ko dito [In this film, I’ve grown so much as an actress and I’ll forever cherish the things I learned from this film].”
In the comments section, Jadaone expressed gratitude to Racal and commended her efforts.
“As always maraming salamat Maris sa pag-aalala kay Sunshine. Appreciate ko efforts mo mula phonecalls to trainings to another take thank you!!!!! Di ako nagduda na kaya mo! [Thank you so much for remembering Sunshine. I appreciate your efforts, from phonecalls to trainings to another take thank you! I don’t doubt that you can do it!].” [sic].
Further details about the plot, cast, and release date of “Sunshine” have yet to be revealed. This marks Jadaone’s first project after “Fan Girl” in 2020.

Racal recently starred in the comedy-drama series “Simula Sa Gitna.” She’s currently part of the romantic drama series “Can’t Buy Me Love” alongside Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.
