LOOK: This is the Menu for President Duterte’s First SONA

Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte made news for the humble menu in his inauguration to become the next president of the Republic of the Philippines. The simplicity of the menu, which served pan de sal with kesong puti, monggo soup with smoked fish and alugbati, lumpia ubod, pritong saging, and a durian tartlet, cemented his reputation as a man who doesn’t like to fuss around.

For his first State of the Nation Address on Monday, President Duterte is bringing back the pared-back menu from his inauguration. The pan de sal with kesong puti and lumpia ubod, smoked fish and alugbati will be served again, this time with new items like the native chips with salted duck egg dressing, empanaditas, sotong goreng or deep-fried calamaris tossed in chili and bell pepper, crispy triangles of flaked chicken adobo and mushrooms, penne with taba ng talangka sauce, balut pâté in profiteroles, and chicken skin crackling.
