Jersey Haven has been manufacturing in the PBA since 2012. Owner Andrew Tan shares, “It was really a fun experience when you get to work with your idols growing up. During this pandemic, it’s quite a challenge since sports are not allowed.” Tan says they had to be more innovative and not limit their company to sports. This is why they started producing PPEs in the early part of ECQ.
When PBA resumed in the first bubble though, they were still involved with producing the uniforms. “Right now our clients are split from sports (in the PBA and overseas), medical field (we manufacture medical gowns and scrub suits), corporate uniforms as well as election shirts,” Tan explained.
Meanwhile, lifestyle has always been in Tan’s plans even before the pandemic. They were just unable to focus at that time due to their load in sports. But now, they were finally able to launch JH Lifestyle last October 10. Tan shared, “A few years back, we were the official licensee of PBA Retro Jerseys, bringing back the nostalgia feel in basketball. When we had the chance this time to bring the nostalgic feeling in the lifestyle line, one of the iconic brands we thought of was Voltes V.”
“Being a big fan of the TV show made it more fun when we were talking to the licensor, Telesuccess,” Tan recalled. “I remember when I was a kid, I didn’t have a chance to get some Voltes V merchandise. This time, I’d like to give everyone a chance to own officially licensed merchandise of Voltes Vโsomething that will bring a lot of childhood memories for us, the Batang 90s.”

Tan also shared the process. He says developing the products was fun yet challenging since they wanted something extra special. “It’s not your typical silkscreen printed shirts, we took extra effort and made it extra special by putting in a glow in the dark and luminous effect on the shirts.”
They have also added face masks in their first collection, as well as caps manufactured from overseas. According to Tan, they had the caps made from the same factory that manufactures for the famous brands in the market. “…But we make sure our price is very competitive,” he reassured.
Tan made sure that collectors will love the 90s hit merch. “Being a collector, I’ve added some more elements in this first collection like every t-shirt (6 designs) have different packaging prints. Our face mask packaging has different packaging print as well, and our cap has its own special box. We want to show that a local brand can also produce quality that is almost the same as the international brands, or maybe even better,” he concluded.
