The 37-year-old celebrity was the man behind Binibining Pilipinas 2020 candidate Honey Cartasano’s national costume called “Higantes Queen,” which the Rizal representative flaunted on her Instagram account last November 14.
“The Higantes Queen is finally out! I can’t wait for everyone to see and know more about my national costume but let’s leave it as it is for now and wait a little longer for the actual presentation,” she shared on her post.
She then credited Paolo, who is also her mentor for the pageant, for her jaw-droppingly beautiful gown.
“For now I just want to thank the person behind my national costume @pochoy_29!” she said. “Thank you so much for the opportunity to wear another masterpiece showcasing one of our province’s BIG and colorful festival.”

Explaining the costume, Paolo told Binibining Pilipinas that it is “an interpretation of the traditional Maria Clara costume inspired by the giants of Angono’s Higantes festival. This joyous event is celebrated every 4th week of November, where paper maché or “higantes” are paraded on the streets of this historic town.”
“The material used is traditional piña highlighting its remarkable characteristic, the fibrosity,” he added. “As she turns around, Maria Clara is transformed into a bright, colorful and towering Higantes we see during the annual parade. A unique piece, emblematic of Rizal’s rich culture.”

The schedule for the Binibining Pilipinas 2020 pageant finals has yet to be announced.
