Today, we learned that Margot Robbie used to volunteer in the Philippines!
A resurfaced post by Rise Above Foundation Cebu, Inc. showed the “Barbie” actress with her now-husband, film producer Tom Ackerley, preparing and serving nutritious meals for Filipino children! According to the non-profit NGO, the group along with Margot and Tom cooked for about 400 kids in barangays Sambag II, Guadalajara, and Guadalupe in the city.
“I always enjoy having young people join us in our programs,” Rise Above co-founder Elisabet Hansen wrote in her post that was shared on their official Facebook Page. “From a meeting at the airport in Manila, and realizing we all were going to Cebu, to meeting up today for a fun time preparing food for, cooking, and serving children from the slum area bordering our Rise Above Community Center.”
In one of the photos where Margot is seen cutting up string beans with the group, Hansen typed in: “The beans and all the other vegetables have to be cut into tiny pieces, as kids are not used to eating vegetables, — so they won’t spit them out, and it works. A lot of work, but the kids get a nutritious meal.”
“Tom, Margot, Sophia, and Josey – you are super wonderful! Thanks for caring for the children,” Hansen said in another photo, where the couple posed with their mates after combining all the ingredients in a huge pot.
The post was published on Facebook in October 2015, which suggests that she made her visit to the Philippines a couple of years after the release of her breakthrough film “The Wolf of Wall Street” in 2013 (where she played the role of Naomi Lapaglia) and a year before the release of her iconic DC movie “Suicide Squad” in 2016 (where she played the role of Harley Quinn).

This post by Rise Above Foundation Cebu was unearthed following the recent release of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie starring Margot Robbie and co-produced by Tom Ackerley.
The two tied the knot in December 2016.
