In December 2020, then-actress Ellen Page (Juno, Inception, Umbrella Academy) took to social media to make an announcement that he is trans, and introduced Elliot to the world. The announcement was met with love and support from fans and his fellow actors.
In March, he appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, with the words “I’m fully who I am” sprawled across the cover, and just last month sat down with Oprah to talk about his journey. Elliot touched hearts with his statement, which expresses how at home he now feels in himself. He told Oprah: “From where I’m sitting now, all I know is the degree of comfort, sense of home, ability to be present, feels so profound and life changing. And so what I look forward to is getting to move through the world in that way.”

And in the spirit of truly feeling at home in himself, Elliot surprised the internet when he recently posted a shirtless picture of him in his “first swim trunks.” And WOW. Elliot is packing some abs!
