Better mark your calendars: “Apocalypse Child” is officially coming to Netflix!
Filipino netizens were quick to spot the movie as part of Netflix’s list of shows coming soon on the streaming site and expressed excitement over its release.
“Apocalypse Child” is a 2015 Philippine independent film directed by Mario Cornejo that stars Sid Lucero, Annicka Dolonius, Gwen Zamora, RK Bagatsing, Ana Abad Santos, and Archie Alemania. The story follows thirty-something surfing instructor Ford, who believes he is the son of Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola, who came to Baler in the late 1970s to shoot scenes for his movie “Apocalypse Now,” struggling to confront his past and find his way forward.
It premiered at the QCinema Film Festival in October 2015 and went on to be screened in many film festivals around the world, including Italy, New York City, and South Korea. It then had its theatrical release in the Philippines in October 2016.
It garnered multiple awards from the QCinema Film Festival Awards 2015, Gawad Urian Awards 2016, and the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival 2016 to name just a few.
According to Netflix, the title will be released on December 20. Add it now to the list of movies for you to binge-watch this Holiday season!
