With the theme โ€œEmpowering the Next Generation of Linguistics Scholars,โ€ this two-day conference recognizes the role of budding Filipino scholars as critical contributors to the field of language studies. It also provides novice researchers an avenue to present their studies in the different areas of linguistics such as sociolinguistics, forensic linguistics, discourse analysis, translation studies, stylistics, language education, World Englishes, research on local languages, and the like before a supportive academic community while bridging and securing connections with fellow language students from other universities and colleges in the country.

Additionally, LingCon 2019 will feature outstanding speakers who are scholars in the field of linguistics. Assoc. Prof. Paolo Niรฑo M. Valdez, Ph.D. from the Department of English and Applied Linguistics of the De La Salle University-Manila will deliver the first plenary lecture. Another plenary lecture will be delivered by Assoc. Prof. Jesus Federico C. Hernandez from the Department of Linguistics of the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

Moreover, the 2018 Word of the Year Selection Competition, which will deliver the story of Filipino life and society in the year 2018, will be held in this linguistics conference as undergraduates and senior high school students engage in a discourse revolving around the words that highly influenced the collective thought of the youth.

The admission-free conference will be held at the University of Santo Tomas Alfredo M. Velayo (UST-AMV) Multipurpose Hall on March 27 to 28 of the current year.
