Lea Salonga did it again! Proved that she is theater royalty and made us proud to be Filipinos, that is. She is among the winners of BroadwayWorld’s 2018 Theater Fans’ Choice Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in Once on This Island.
Lea plays the role of Erzulie, the goddess of love in the revival of the 1990s musical, which marked the Tony awardee’s return to Broadway after her performance in Allegiance in 2015. And she has been getting rave reviews for it. Once on This Island opened on Broadway on December 3, 2017 at the Circle in the Square Theater.
Lea is set to perform as Erzulie for the last time on June 24.
