It’s been almost a year since Kylie Verzosa and Jake Cuenca shocked their fans with the news that they have ended their three-year relationship. Until now though, the former beauty queen still looks back on what they shared with fondness and speaks of their breakup without any bitterness.
In fact, she opened up in an interview with Boy Abunda on his Youtube channel that she doesn’t consider her relationship with Jake as one that “failed,” sharing that they both succeeded in becoming much better people because of each other.
“I wouldn’t want to call it na ‘it didn’t work out.’ It ended. I hear from people na it’s a ‘failed relationship’ or maybe it didn’t work out pero hindi ko po siya cinoconsider na ganun. I guess because [it’s just perspective.] We both helped each other in the relationship, we both benefited from the relationship. I think that it was a good relationship and we learned from it, we became better people. I believe that who we are today is a contribution of that relationship. We were different people when we started the relatonship and when we ended the relationship, and I believe that we are both better people,” she said.
She described the heartbreak as a long process of having to come to that decision to part ways and that it wasn’t something they just chose to do abruptly.
“Tagal ko na siyang hindi nababalikan,” Kylie said. “Siguro it’s already been six months [since I did]. It’s hard, [but] happy ako where I am now.”
When asked what the cause was, Kylie admitted that “no one knows” and that she prefers to keep it that way.
“I want to keep our relationship in the past, and what we had was, I believe, beautiful and I want to keep it that way,” she added. “I don’t want to tarnish anyone’s name, and I don’t want to destroy anything. Pero it would be something na between just the both of us.”
She then stressed that she isn’t ready for a new relationship yet. “I say I love love, but I’m not ready for it. Maybe not in a few months, maybe not in a year. Eventually.”

Jake confirmed their split last April 2022 which he assured everyone was not done “in anger.”
