Kennon Road Is Now Reopened To Motorists

Kennon Road is officially open for motorists use once again! It will be accessible every weekend starting November 29 for vehicles weighing less than 5 tons. As the shortest way to head up to Baguio, the move is done in the hopes of alleviating traffic along Marcos Highway and the Tubao-Asin-Nagalisan Road.

According to the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CRDRRMC), the opening of Kennon road will begin every Friday at 6 am and will end each Monday at 6 pm. For now, the road will only be accessible for those going up to Baguio. Drivers are advised to stick to the right side of the upward lane.

The downward lane will be reserved for the exclusive use of the residents in the area. Vehicles attempting to use the downward lane will be checked to verify if they are carrying residents.

A speed limit of 22 kilometer-per-hour will be implemented and strictly observed. Other traffic and parking rules apply as well, particularly if stopping by the Lion’s Head. A visit to the Lion’s Head must first be cleared at the police station in Camp 7.

However, in the event of inclement weather potentially triggering a landslide in the area, Kennon Road will be immediately closed.
