Are you a fan of comfort food – the kind that brings to memory sunny summer days spent in your nana’s home, or even ones that bring back memories of enjoying a hearty bowl of warm soup with friends while cold rain pours outside?
If your answer is ‘yes’, then you’ll be glad to know that there’s a new café in Quezon City that serves the real deal when it comes to comfort food: Katherine’s Café.

Think familiar dishes with uncomplicated flavors served straight from the oven or pan, using nothing less than the freshest ingredients. That is the kind of dining experience that Katherine’s Café promises. An all-day café and restaurant that traces its inspiration from summers spent at the home of an eight-year-old girl’s nana, the brand aims to do one thing and one thing alone: to provide everyone an escape from the hustles and bustles of modern living using the simple pleasure of enjoying really good food.
“Nothing fancy here,” shares Arvin Amaro, Marketing Head. “Katherine’s Café is not an establishment that wishes to rival those who use flashy kitchen equipment and sophisticated techniques. We really just want to offer food that brings about happy thoughts. When they slurp a spoonful of our soup, we want our customers to say, ‘This tastes like a warm hug.’ When they take a bite of our pot pies, we want to see smiles on their faces. Really, that’s all we want.”
To ensure that it offers everything for everyone, Katherine’s Café offers an array of simple yet tasty dishes ranging from hearty soups and salads to all day breakfast items, pastas, and of course, desserts.
Some of the brand’s signature items include: the family’s long-time recipe of Beef Tapa, which is made of premium beef, imported from the U.S. and served with garlic fried rice, eggs and pickled vegetables; Cereal-Crusted Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Milk Gravy, which you can enjoy with either country-style fries or freshly-cooked rice; Hickory Barbecue-Glazed Grilled Thick Cut Pork Ribs, which is slow-cooked for six hours; Buttermilk Pancakes, which are served with either Strawberries and Cream or a medley of mango, banana and walnut; and Sardines and Kesong Puti Flatbread.
Katherine’s other specialties include: Vigan Longganisa and Kesong Puti Pasta, which offers a unique approach to the traditional longganisa-kesong puti pairing; Thick and Golden Waffles, cooked to fluffy perfection; comforting Seafood Potpie and; Mango Crunch Cake and Ube White Chocolate Cake—two treats that provide the perfect conclusion to a satisfying meal.

Katherine’s Café is pretty easy to spot from the lines of other shops surrounding it thanks to its cozy country home-themed interiors. With warm mood lighting, chairs that practically beg you to take a lounge, small trinkets that add to the overall home-away-from-home ambience and pops of greens, it’s easy to say that Katherine’s Café will have no problem finding regulars who will most likely use the place as a comfy work station or regular weekend hangout hub.
