A video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) on October 9 showed Julie singing and dancing to “Dancing Queen.” The performance drew backlash, with netizens noting her song choice and outfit—a gown with a high slit—”inappropriate” for the venue.

In response, Sparkle GMA Artist Center issued an official statement, taking full responsibility for the viral performance.

“Sparkle GMA Artist Center takes full responsibility for Julie Anne’s attendance at this event. It is our job to coordinate and clear details with the organizers and relay the instructions to our artist,” the statement read, adding that Julie was simply fulfilling her duties as a professional singer.

The statement also apologized to everyone who was offended, including the singer herself: “She is a devout Catholic and had no intention of disrespecting the Church or its members.”

The agency assured that they would be more cautious to prevent the same incident from happening again.

“Moving forward, we will be more vigilant in our coordination efforts to ensure such incidents do not happen again,” the statement concluded.

Julie Anne has also issued an apology through her social media accounts: “I am offering my apologies. Even though my only intentions were to share joy and to give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident I was in and with my performance which caused distress.”

“I am not perfect but please know that I have strong beliefs and my faith is unbreakable and cannot be shaken. I pray that we can all move forward with compassion in our hearts. Thank you,” she added.

The viral performance was part of a benefit concert titled “Heavenly Harmony Concert, Harana Para Kay Maria.” Proceeds from the benefit concert will go directly to the church’s construction.
