Liza Soberano received praise from the American director behind the 2020 action thriller film “Hard Kill,” Joe Russo, for her performance in the upcoming film “Lisa Frankenstein.”
On X, the director posted a brief comment about the film as the advance screenings in the United States are ongoing. He emphasized that the “Lisa Frankenstein” director Zelda Williams and screenwriter Diablo Cody “found a superstar” in the actress and said she “steals every scene” in portraying Taffy.
“Movies like LISA FRANKENSTEIN can be great vehicles to break new stars, and @zeldawilliams and Diablo Cody found a superstar in Liza Soberano, who steals every scene she’s in as Lisa’s step-sister, Taffy,” [sic] he wrote.

This marks Soberano’s Hollywood debut. She played the role of Taffy, Kathryn Newton’s character, Lisa’s stepsister.
Prior to this, Newton also commended her in a recent interview with Red Carpet Report on Mingle Media TV. The American actress described Soberano as “professional” and “sweetest girl.”
“I love Liza. She is just a gift to the world, this girl. She’s the sweetest girl I’ve ever met in my whole life, and thereโs nobody that could play this role except her,โ Newton reiterated.
Inspired by Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel “Frankenstein,” “Lisa Frankenstein” follows the story of a misunderstood teenage girl, Lisa, and her high school crush, who happens to be a reanimated corpse, portrayed by Cole Sprouse. It is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on February 7, 2024.
