Jessica Lange No Longer Wants to Be a Part of ‘American Horror Story’

Amid the success of her new Netflix series The Politician, Jessica Lange has dropped the news that she no longer wants to be a part of future seasons of well-loved horror anthology series American Horror Story.

Speaking to The Wrap regarding the possibility of her starring in future seasons, Lange said: “I don’t think so. I did [Apocalypse] because it was recreating Constance, which was, for me, it was a very important time when I did that first season, Murder House. But I don’t think I would want to start from scratch and create a character.

She then explained that part of the reason why she has no intention of making her comeback is not having her usual costars around.

“I think a lot of the actors that I was working with, people that I really love working with, like Sarah [Paulson] or Frances [Conroy] or Kathy [Bates] – I don’t know who’s in this new season, but I don’t think it would be the same,” she added.

In a separate interview with  Entertainment Weekly, Lange also shared: “I feel like I got the best of it in those first four seasons. Great characters. It was exciting to do. I worked with some of my favorite actors but I can’t see that we could ever get back to that.

Lange also admitted that she might be done with doing television shows for good. “It would take something very, very different and special to jump back into [TV]. Because at this point, I’m not sure I’m not finished. I might have come to the end of it,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Lange has starred in the first four seasons (Murder House, Asylum, Coven, and Freak Show) of American Horror Story and made a quick appearance in the eighth (Apocalypse). For her performances on the first, second, and third seasons, she was garnered multiple awards including her first Screen Actors Guild Award, first Critics Choice Award, a Golden Globe Award, three Dorian Awards, and two Emmy Awards.
