In an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda, actor and singer James Reid opened up about his real- and reel-life partner Nadine Lustre, and how she helped him during his darkest days.
Abunda asked him, “Was there a time when you thought, ‘I want to walk away’?”

Before he officially got together with Lustre in 2016, he said that he was going through depression. He said, “I was so affected by people telling me how to be and what to do with my life.”
Reid then went to Japan on his own and upon returning, started his relationship with Lustre.
He added, “With her, I didn’t have to pretend to be anyone. I could just be myself completely. She helped me through the darkest time of my life, and I’ve been there for her for hers.”
Reid went on to say that no one understood him the way Luste does.
Reid told Abunda that he’s better now, describing today as “the best time of my life.”
