Fans of the Academy Award-winning 2009 epic adventure “Avatar” written and directed by James Cameron will soon be able to watch a remastered version in theaters next month and experience it in a “stunning 4K High Dynamic Range.”
In a press release, Cameron stated that his Lightstorm Entertainment company has been working on remastering the film with upgraded HDR visuals and higher frame rates through Pixelworks’ TrueCut Motion platform to make it look “better in every way.”
This announcement comes ahead of the much-awaited premiere of the “Avatar” sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which is set for release on December 16, 2022. The remastered 2009 film also got new poster art as well as a new trailer, which you can view below.
“Avatar” remains to be one of the most successful movies of all time with a worldwide gross of US$2.847 billion (PHP 159.5 billion). It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. The film was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau. Nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, the film won three Oscars for Best Cinematography, Production Design, and Visual Effects.
The remastered “Avatar” will arrive in Philippine cinemas on September 21, 2022.
