Jake Cuenca Gets Arrested After a Car Chase in Mandaluyong City

Jake Cuenca was arrested last night in Mandaluyong City after hitting a police car with his SUV, according to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Police Brigadier General Matthew Bacay. In an interview on Dobol B TV earlier today, Bacay said that the SUV did not stop after the accident at around 9 pm yesterday which resulted in a chase that reached Shaw Boulevard in Pasig City.

Unfortunately, a stray bullet hit a Grab driver during the car chase. “In the course of their chase, our personnel had to disable the vehicle, shoot the tire. A Grab driver was hit,” Bacay explained. The victim was reportedly taken to the hospital and is now in stable condition.

“I have instructed the chief of police of Mandaluyong, [Police] Colonel Mel Unos, to take care of all the needs of the victim,” he continued. “Very unfortunate ‘yung incident. Siguro ‘yung mga personnel natin mataas pa ‘yung adrenalin because ongoing ‘yung operation natin, nakahuli ng marijuana doon sa Mandaluyong. And then this is a very unfortunate incident. Walang may gusto nito.”

The actor was recognized as the driver when the police finally caught up with the SUV. Nothing illegal was seen inside Cuenca’s car and he has reportedly undergone a medical examination this Sunday. His vehicle is reportedly in police custody already and will be under investigation by the Scene of the Crime Operation team.

An inquest proceeding was also set this morning because the Mandaluyong Police will reportedly file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property against Cuenca.
