Instead of Demolishing Torre de Manila, Should Rizal be the One to Adjust and Turn Around?

Apparently, this is the suggestion of Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing.

According to the post from ABS-CBN News, Bagatsing will submit a proposal to turn around the Rizal Monument and make it face the city instead of Manila Bay. The basis for this is that the monument facing the bay implies that Rizal is a traitor. He added that even the carabao statues in the park face the city and not the other way around.

However, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts  (NCCA) said that doing this does not solve the initial issue of Torre de Manila becoming the “national photo-bomber”. Also, they said that it is quite unacceptable to make the national hero face the building.

At present, construction is stopped after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order.

What do you think?

Should the Rizal Monument just turn around?
