How Juan Carlo Became a Go-To Caterer for Showbiz’s Biggest Celebrations

After decades spent behind the scenes of some of the country’s most memorable events, Juan Carlo the Caterer steps into the spotlight this year as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The milestone was marked on November 11, 2025, at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan, where clients, long-time partners, and friends gathered for an evening of music, stories, and a look back at the company’s three decades in the industry.

Performances by Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, and other world-class artists added to the celebration.

For the del Rosario family, who founded and continue to run Juan Carlo the Caterer, the story began with something simple: a love for food. Founder engineer Alex Michael del Rosario grew up exploring different restaurants with his aunt, Cecilia del Rosario Pacumio. Those early experiences inspired the values the company still carries today: excellence, elegance, transparency, and a genuine appreciation for food and life.

In 1995, Engr. Alex and his wife, Teresita, made the bold choice to leave their life in Saudi Arabia and start a catering business in the Philippines. They named it after their son, Juan Carlo. With their combined skills and exposure to various cuisines abroad, the couple built the business from the ground up.

Over the years, the company gained traction, especially within celebrity circles. They were part of Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid’s 2010 wedding, Kathryn Bernardo’s debut in 2014, and Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel’s unforgettable surprise wedding in 2012.

As word spread, more clients sought them out for their attention to detail and luxury catering experience. Eventually, they handled larger, high-profile events, including gatherings hosted by the United States Embassy.

Despite the scale of the events they cater, the del Rosarios emphasize that their work is not just transactional. Assistant vice president Juan Carlo del Rosario shares that their strong client relationships are at the heart of what they do.

“The real magic isn’t just in the food; it’s in the bond and trust we share with our clients,” he says.

From regular communication to celebrating special occasions together, the company treats clients like family—often becoming part of life milestones from birthdays to weddings and beyond.

That same sense of family extends within the company. During the pandemic, when events came to a sudden halt, the del Rosarios turned their attention to protecting their employees’ livelihoods. They launched Juan Carlo Food to Go, offering single-serve boxed meals across the southern Tagalog region to sustain operations. The family also established a culinary lab to help their team master new health and safety protocols and invested in continuous training to prepare for the industry’s next chapter.

As they look ahead, Juan Carlo the Caterer remains focused on elevating culinary experiences while nurturing the people behind the brand.

“Our legacy is built on passion, hard work, and the drive to be at the heart of tasteful celebrations,” says Juan Carlo. “As we look toward staging more memorable moments and setting new standards for luxury, we commit to continuously delivering world-class culinary performances and creating unforgettable memories.”

With 30 years of stories, flavors, and celebrations behind them, the spotlight now shines on the next chapter of Juan Carlo the Caterer—one they continue to craft with heart, vision, and a deep love for the people they serve.
